I’m sure fond of your “Bob What’s-Is-Name”. The chorus strikes a chord for me and sometimes brings happy tears when I hear it!!!
Our local DJ in Rochester/Ithaca closes his show with it every Friday at noon…I try to tune in and turn it WAAAAYYY up!
Here’s the reason it’s evocative for me:
When I was 19 I left home to hitch hike across the country.
I was fed up with small town life, after spending my restless and reckless teen years as a small town girl…I wanted to see the WORLD!!!
The day I left home (leaving only a note for my parents…can you imagine???!!) my dad headed out to the barn after arriving home early from work.
He heard the geese flying south overhead and said, “Take good care of her.”
He’s gone now and I’m 66 but I’m still full of piss and vinegar.
