2012 Cavalcades Wrapup

Well, we did it again – we made it thru Cavalcade Season!!!

All three events (in addition to the Somerville & Cape Cod Cavalcades, we also helped organize an evening at WHAT where the Cavalcade met Yule for Fuel) were extremely successful, raising money for the Somerville Homeless Coalition and the NOAH Shelter in Hyannis, and we want to thank all the artists, venues, and various non-performers, especially the ridiculously talented and patient and resourceful and divine Lou McMurrer (stage manager for all three events), our soundmen Dana Westover (Johnny D’s) and Chris Blood (WHAT and Jailhouse), and our merchandise vendor Belinda from the WMFO radio program Bubbles in the Think Tank.

In addition to many Cavalcade veterans, we had a whole slew of new performers this year, all of whom were absolutely fabulous. Not a dud in the bunch all three nights. We especially want to to single out newcomers the Second Line Social Aid and Pleasure Society Brass Band, whose performance at Johnny D’s blew everyone away, the Philharmonic Trombone Shout Band, who started things off at Johnny D’s with a bang, as well as Cavalcade veterans the Ticks and their production of “The Nutcracker” at the Jailhouse. We have no idea how they’re ever going to top that (but then again, we said that after their production of “Jesus Christ Superstar” 2 years ago, too!)

And of course, the Cavalcades wouldn’t be complete without all you amazing people who come out each year to experience the pageantry and support the Somerville Homeless Coalition and NOAH Shelter. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
